Stowe Scavengers

We’ve got the world at our fingertips here in Stowe, Vermont. Well, maybe just the town, but we still know how to add site-seeing crossed with taste-testing crossed with adventure to your group’s event. What better way to make the most of your time here and explore this beautiful location? We’d tell you where different stops along the way would be, but then it wouldn’t be a scavenger hunt.

Community Give Backs

Food Shelf Project

Join an exhilarating team experience that finishes with the meaningful and worthwhile donation in providing food for local shelters in Vermont, or take it back with you to support your own local Food Shelf. Your group will cook and eat food they prepare during the event at Stoweflake while bonding in this unique experience.

Bikes

If you remember the feeling of receiving your first bike, you’ll likely remember that life opened up more doors to explore more, meet friends and challenge yourself. As a large biking community here in Stowe, we support the idea of making biking accessible to kids and adults of all ages. The task behind this team activity is to successfully assemble new bikes to provide in donation to those in need of a two-wheeled adventure. While the real winners are the ones receiving the bikes, we will have bikes at the ready for you to explore Stowe as well afterwards!

Team Problem Solving

As one team, or broken down into several teams, a group can work through a task with only the resources given them to accomplish their task. i.e. building something or moving something from one area to another with limited equipment.

Mine Field

Objects are scattered in an indoor or outdoor place. In pairs, one person verbally guides his/her partner, a blindfolded person, through the minefield.

Game Show Hosts

Spin-offs of game shows such as Jeopardy, The Price is Right and Family Feud are the perfect way to entertain groups from 10-200 in these colorful, live games. Form teams and combine your brains to solve puzzles, answer questions and get a laugh following a day of meetings. It’s the perfect way to bond as a company or meet other industry partners!

Guided Hiking Tours

Stowe has a variety of trails to offer hikers of all ability levels. The trail system in Stowe is well maintained with clear paths and obvious trail blazes. Here are a few sample hikes to get you trekking. Different hiking options based on ability level consist of great trails like the following:

The Pinnacle Trail is a relatively short hike located east of town. The trailhead in Stowe Hollow is a 2.8-mile drive from Main Street on mostly paved roads. From the trailhead it’s a 1.4-mile hike to the summit of the Pinnacle, a 2,740-foot peak in the Worcester Range (the eastern border of Stowe). Most of the trail is a fairly gradual and unobstructed ascent up the west side of the Pinnacle, although there is a short rocky section as you near the top. At the summit you will find unparalleled views of the town of Stowe below and Mt. Mansfield to the west.

Sterling Pond Trail makes the climb from in between The Notch of Stowe Mountain and Smuggler’s Notch. At the top you will join up with The Long Trail (not the beer unfortunately) and find Sterling Pond as well as the east peak of Smugglers notch ski area with views to last a lifetime. This trip is about 2.8 miles round trip and perfect for an easy hiker.

Moss Glen Falls Trail is a very short, but scenic, hike to a spectacular waterfall. Follow the brook upstream to the falls for about half of a mile. The waterfall is a definite favorite in Stowe.

Mountain Biking

Four Points VT Mountain Bike School was started with the intention of making learning to mountain bike an easy and enjoyable experience. Mountain Biking is an exciting life style sport but it can be intimidating to start. Four Points was started by Rick Sokoloff, co-founder and founding president of the Stowe Mountain Bike Club. Rick ran the club for over 10 years and when the club was formed, there were very limited legal trails. To-date, there are over 50 miles of legal and permanent trails in the area and a current membership of over 750 families.

Mountain biking in the fall season is an incredible way to enjoy the mountains of Vermont. Starting off with an introductory session on flat grounds at Stoweflake, Rick takes you through all the motions in a safe and slow-paced environment to work on body positioning, turning, braking, and even going over bridges. From there, enjoy a trip to easy mountain biking terrain through the Trapp Mountain Bike trails with incredible, colorful views or into Cady Falls Forest where you might find a Ski Chair that overlooks the town. And Rick makes it do-able for anyone of all abilities!

Skiing & Riding: Best of the East

Treat the group to with access to some of the best skiing and riding in the east! Stowe’s trails are unrivaled when it comes to terrain and snowmaking/grooming abilities. From beginners to experts, this is a sure way to get your group out on the hill to celebrate winter at its finest here in Vermont. Let us have tickets waiting for you upon check-in for direct-to-lift access and the winter town shuttle will bring you straight to the base.

Rob will be leading your 20 minute dog sled tour located on Stoweflake Property and is excited to show you his team.

Lectures

The simplicity and complexity of working with a team of dogs has many parallel to the office environment and in establishing a healthy productive working team. The similarities to consider are: the goals for the work product, choosing qualified team members for the job to be performed, understanding the difference in learning styles, working the personalities of the members and promoting leadership qualities. These are some of the team building skill that Owner of October Siberians, Rob Farley, will share from working with a dog pack, and its hierarchy, to achieve a high performance team. Rob’s team building program offers a simplistic and amusing approach to working with each other and developing good leader among your team.
