Award-Winning Spa Introduces New Treatments Based on Ancient Eastern Philosophy for Skin Replenishment and Repair
Guests staying at the acclaimed Stoweflake Mountain Resort & Spa can now experience the award-winning spa’s four newest treatments based on a 5,000 year-old science originating in India, called Ayurveda – originally a type of medical practice that used holistic approaches to strengthen the immune system. At the Spa at Stoweflake, each treatment is based on the individual Dosha, an individual’s Ayurvedic type, which is based on the belief that everything in the universe is made up of the same five elements - Space, Air, Fire, Water and Earth. These types influence an individual’s personality, health and well-being. The four Ayurvedic treatments include:
Dosha Balancing Massage - Performed with warm Herbal Infused Body Oil and enhanced with moist heat, this Ayurvedic method warms without losing the healing properties of the herbs. The Dosha Balancing Massage aids in detoxification and nourishes the nervous system. Depending on the individual’s needs and elemental make-up, a specific type of oil is used. Costs $105 for 50 minutes, $140 for 80 minutes
Bindi Herbal Body Treatment - The Herbal Body Treatment is derived from the traditional Purva Karma rejuvenation therapies and uses herbal infused oils and a botanical body mask to exfoliate, cleanse, detoxify and nourish the skin. Costs $175 for 80 minutes
Shirodhara - Shirodhara begins with a gentle stream of warm herbal infused oil onto the third eye (the area between the two eyes, slightly above the brow line) to quiet the mind and soothe the senses, followed by an application of Ayurvedic herbs to nourish the hair roots and condition the scalp. The Shirodhara is complemented with a face, hand and foot massage. Costs $175 for 75 minutes
Nirvana - Combining the Bindi Herbal Body Treatment with the Shirodhara treatment, this Ayurvedic combination targets the entire mind, body and spirit making it a premium experience. Costs $220 for 105 minutes
In addition to these new Ayurvedic treatments, the Spa at Stoweflake is offering the decadent Caviar Facial (80 minutes for $175), which uses rich caviar and powerful anti-oxidants to hydrate and firm the skin. Also new for 2005 are three B. Kamins Facials with Bio-Maple™:
