THE 22nd STOWEFLAKE HOT AIR BALLOON FESTIVAL TAKES ENTERTAINMENT TO NEW HEIGHTS
New England’s Most Popular Balloon Festival Provides a Birds-Eye View of the Green Mountains
For two decades, visitors from across the country have flocked to New England for the region’s most popular hot-air balloon festival located in the mountainous town of Stowe, VT. On July 11-13, 2008, with the assistance of more than 25 of the country’s most prominent balloon experts, Stoweflake Mountain Resort & Spa will throw a celebration for the 22nd Stoweflake Hot Air Balloon Festival.
Flights will be launching on Friday, July 11 at 6:30 p.m., Saturday, July 12 at 6:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. and Sunday, July 13 at 6:30 a.m. The morning launches at 6:30 a.m. are complimentary for all visitors who would like to participate in the festivities. Admission for overnight resort guests during the festival is complimentary, and admission for non-guests is $8 (children 12 and under are admitted for free). Tethered rides on the hot-air balloons are available for $10 per person.
Located at the AAA Four-Diamond Stoweflake Mountain Resort & Spa, the festival has evolved as a summer tradition that includes a Children’s Corner, balloon launches and tethers, spa mini-facials, chair massages, food, drinks and live entertainment each evening. The dynamic sight of the balloons from the ground is almost as impressive as the views from the balloons of the majestic Green Mountains.
All overnight guests and local visitors are invited to participate in more ways than one, from taking tethered rides to volunteering as part of the festival crew. Thrill-seekers who want to raise the bar on their stay can schedule a hot-air balloon flight upon booking a Stoweflake vacation package during the festival for an additional $500 per couple*. For an active getaway, visitors can inquire about volunteering at the festival by calling a Stoweflake Experience Specialist at 800-253-2232.
